Snowdrops…

Snowdrops, a garden photographers favourite… we’ve spent the best part of two months couped up in an office, and now we can get up and out, and shoot some flowers… to me it signals the start of the ‘season’… here are a few from last year…

Garden and Plant Photography

Snowdrops are the subject of a plant ‘craze’ at the moment, and there are tales of single, rare snowdrop bulbs selling for hundreds of pounds on Ebay.  Snowdrop fanatics are known as Galanthophiles and their ‘madness’ for the simple spring flower is a match for the Tulip craze of earlier centuries.  I have never understood how anyone can get so carried away by a particular plant, but over the last year or two I have begun studying them and noting their beautiful patterns and markings… Its easy to see why you may become fascinated… I shot these photographs at the fantastic ‘Avon Bulbs’ in Mid Lambrook, Somerset, last week, and you can’t help but fall in love with them when they’re this close-up! Take a look at the different markings…
