Washing day, Venice style..

Venice is a rambling, maze-like, maddeningly complicated city with no cars, hundreds of bridges and some streets that are only as wide as some of the tourists that try to walk along them.  It has some great bars, some bad food and a lot of crumbling buildings.  It floods a lot, and smells of drains in many places.  It is (nowadays) very expensive, and there are a lot (really, loads) of people crowded into its tiny space.

It is also the most amazing city, the most beautiful place on earth (IMHO) and is simply fascinating.  It is the benchmark of photogenic-ness (is there such a word? there should be) and will stay with you forever if you go. It is, quite simply, bonkers…. and their washing day is a sight to behold…
