September Reset (I think that’s what they call it)

Well, it’s been a busy summer, and a difficult one, especially when it comes to that pesky drought; the gardens have all been a bit frazzled here in the UK, so many of my favourite gardens have been a bit ‘under the (hot) weather’! Still, I have completed a few interiors shoots, and I have a few more things to do on the outside, now that more normal service has been resumed in the garden. I’m not sure if it’s because I have become a victim of all the doom-laden news and the endless social media prompting (I must take a full break from it soon!), but I have felt the need for a ‘september reset’. I came back from a lovely break in Spain, only to find a pile of escalating bills, even more doom in the inbox and a general malaise; so I have escaped the Devon office and taken a few days in Bristol to meet up with old friends, and reorganise my self. A website refresh, a re think and a bit of recalibration! Hope you like the new look site (a bit cleaner, fewer pages and a bit less fussiness), do let me know, and thanks for looking, as ever.

Not far from romantic Ronda, up in the Sierra, is Molino Del Santo, an oasis hotel that I have known for 25 years. Cooled by a mountain stream and refreshed with an overflowing garden, it’s a family place, with many of the same staff as were there when we first went; comfortable, picturesque and with an excellent restaurant, it was a great base from which to explore the dramatic local area. Booted Eagles, Griffon Vultures, Dippers, Bee Eaters and kingfishers can be seen on short walks around the hotel. I took my beloved Rolleiflex camera with Kodak Gold film, and we swam in a lovely pool and drank copious medicinal beers.
